San Mateo County SAL to open new coastside location, expand programs to area youth

SAN MATEO COUNTY, Calif. – San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus announced today that the Sheriff’s Activities League (SAL) will open a new coastside location in the next few months, expanding programs to kids
and teens who live along the coast.

The new Coastside SAL Building, located at 235 Main St. in Half Moon Bay, is walking distance from local schools, the Boys & Girls Club, the library, local transportation, and more. The building will serve as a centralized location where youth can gather in a positive, safe environment, while accessing wrap around programs with San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and trusted mentors.

Extensive youth programs will be available at the new building including assistance with homework, job, and college applications, learning and developing life skills, hearing from local leaders and professional speakers, participating in community service opportunities, enjoying various indoor and outdoor activities, and more.

“This is a historic milestone in SAL’s history and a significant investment in our youth as we bring our community together in a new building and expand our programs in ways never done before,” said Sheriff Corpus. “This new, highly visible and centrally located space is just steps away from our kids and teens at area schools. We’re currently putting the finishing touches on the building, and we look forward to sharing it with our community soon.”

The new Coastside SAL Building is expected to open in the next few months and will serve Half Moon Bay and all unincorporated coastside communities. SAL will continue to operate a main location on the peninsula.

In the coming months, Sheriff Corpus plans to host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new location. Stay tuned for more details and be sure to follow SAL’s social media accounts where Ribbon
Cutting Ceremony information will be posted when it becomes available.
