San Mateo Sheriff's Office Boot Camp: Breaking Down Barriers
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Boot Camp is a free five-week voluntary program designed to inspire and prepare participants for a career in law enforcement.
Founded in 2014, the Boot Camp breaks down barriers by building fitness, confidence and camaraderie among participants. Guided by current and former Sheriff’s Office employees, participants take part in challenging workouts and team-building activities in a motivational environment. By the end of the program, participants are prepared to take the next step in the hiring process by completing the entry-level fitness test. Participation in the Boot Camp does not guarantee employment.
As one past participant shared:
“The support and friendships formed here create a strong sense of family... this Boot Camp has been pivotal for me, and I highly recommend it to any woman looking to challenge herself in a supportive environment.”
The Sheriff’s Office typically holds two Boot Camps each year – a Women’s Boot Camp and a Co-Ed Boot Camp.
