Sheriff’s Office shares results from weekend sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint
MILLBRAE, Calif. – The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office along with multiple law enforcement agencies conducted a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint over the weekend.
Nearly 1300 vehicles were screened during the checkpoint, which took place between the hours of 6 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday in the 00 to 100 blocks of El Camino Real in the City of Millbrae.
Results from the checkpoint are as follows:
- 1274 vehicles screened
- Nine Field Sobriety Tests conducted
- 0 drivers arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
- 28 drivers cited for operating a vehicle while unlicensed
- 5 drivers cited for not possessing their DMV issued California Driver’s License
- 0 vehicles towed
Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office holds several sobriety and driver’s license enforcement operations each year.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
