Stolen Rental Vehicle Located and Driver Arrested for Embezzlement

Millbrae, Calif. – On February 24, 2024, at approximately 2:53 PM, San Mateo County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an Automated License Plate Reader notification regarding a stolen vehicle traveling southbound on El Camino Real in the City of Millbrae. Deputies promptly located the vehicle as it turned left onto eastbound East Millbrae Avenue from El Camino Real. They then followed the vehicle to North Rollins Road and initiated a traffic stop.

The driver, identified as Lucille Lashine Whiley, 39 year-old female from San Francisco, was the sole occupant of the stolen vehicle and was apprehended without incident.

Further investigation revealed that Whiley had rented the vehicle but failed to return it despite multiple attempts by the rental company to contact her.

Whiley was subsequently arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility, where she is currently being held on a $10,000 bail.
